Germany's temporary fuel rebate ended on 30 June 2026. Energy tax was reduced in May and June, and there is no follow-up rebate. The useful everyday signal is no longer a flat headline increase but the current price near you, the noon rule, and the distance to a station.

Why shortly before noon is the key check now
An ADAC analysis of more than 14,000 stations in May 2026 found the lowest time shortly before noon: Super E10 averaged 3.7 cents and diesel 4.3 cents per litre below the daily average. The noon step averaged 14.6 cents for E10 and 18.4 cents for diesel. This is a snapshot, not a price guarantee for every station. Prices may fall again after noon, so a second local check can still help.

CO2 price in 2026: another, but limited cost factor
National emissions trading has a 2026 corridor of EUR55 to EUR65 per tonne. Relative to EUR55, EUR60 corresponds to around 1.4 cents per litre for petrol and 1.6 cents for diesel, according to the Federal Environment Ministry. At EUR65, the figures are about 2.8 and 3.2 cents. The pump price still depends on several market components.
