When are fuel prices cheapest in Germany?

Since the April 2026 rule, the key comparison window is shortly before 12:00. Monday to Wednesday are the cheapest days. Later price cuts can still occur in the afternoon and evening.

Why do fuel prices fluctuate so much?

Crude oil, exchange rates, procurement, competition, location, energy tax and the CO2 price all interact. The current price near you is therefore more useful than a general headline.

How often can German petrol stations change their prices?

Since 1 April 2026, stations may only raise prices once per day. Price reductions remain unrestricted at any time — this explains the typical daily price pattern.

What is the difference between Super E5 and Super E10?

Super E10 contains up to 10% bioethanol, Super E5 up to 5%. E10 is typically 2–5 cents cheaper per litre and compatible with about 95% of petrol cars. Check your fuel cap sticker or owner's manual.
